Bleak's
World
Mui Ping is a Singapore-based illustrator, product designer, and founder of Bleak Illustration, an art and lifestyle brand exploring existential dread, mental struggles, and the chaos of everyday life. Originally pursuing design for stability, she later rediscovered her passion for drawing through Bleak, using art as a way to document life’s hardships with humour and honesty. Since its beginnings in 2012, Bleak has grown from handmade notebooks and stickers into a diverse collection of paintings, hand-painted tote bags, ceramics, stainless steel rings, socks, charms, coasters, and more. Mui Ping’s work transforms difficult emotions into wearable and collectible art.

Story Of The Works
Bleak Illustration’s socks combine adorable animal characters with dark humour and relatable phrases that express the thoughts people often keep to themselves. Each design explores themes of burnout, social awkwardness, and everyday struggles, turning honest emotions into wearable conversation starters that encourage people to laugh at life’s imperfections rather than hide them.
Fun Fact
I may come across as cheerful, but I’m really just a depressed mess drawing silly things to entertain myself and make everyday life a little more bearable.
